Your privacy matters. MobiDokta (Pty) Ltd ("MobiDokta", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

  • Device Information: Device make, model, and IMEI (for repair tracking)
  • Transaction Information: Payment amounts, gateway used, booking references
  • Feedback Information: Ratings, comments, and suggestions you provide
  • Technical Information: Browser type, IP address, and usage data collected via cookies

2. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal information for the following lawful purposes:

  • To process and manage your repair bookings
  • To process payments through our payment partners (Yoco, Peach Payments, Ozow)
  • To communicate with you about your repair status via SMS, WhatsApp, and email
  • To send appointment reminders (2 hours before your booking)
  • To improve our services based on your feedback
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under POPIA, we process your personal information based on:

  • Consent: You provide explicit consent when booking and agreeing to our terms
  • Contractual Necessity: Processing is necessary to fulfil our service agreement with you
  • Legitimate Interest: To improve our services and prevent fraud
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with South African law, including tax regulations

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share your information with the following trusted third parties, solely for service delivery:

  • Yoco Technology (Pty) Ltd — Card payment processing
  • Peach Payments (Pty) Ltd — 3D Secure card payments
  • Ozow (Pty) Ltd — Instant EFT payments
  • Twilio Inc. — WhatsApp notifications
  • SendGrid (Twilio) — Email communications
  • Sennza — SMS notifications
  • Vercel Inc. — Website hosting and serverless functions

All third-party providers are contractually bound to handle your data in compliance with POPIA.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for:

  • Active customer data: Duration of the customer relationship plus 12 months
  • Transaction records: 5 years (as required by SARS)
  • Feedback data: Indefinitely (anonymised after 24 months)
  • Audit logs: 12 months

6. Your Rights Under POPIA

As a data subject, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Object: Object to the processing of your personal information for direct marketing
  • Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for processing at any time

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information:

  • 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit
  • Admin access protected by 2-factor authentication (2FA)
  • Session management with automatic timeout
  • Rate limiting on authentication endpoints
  • Input validation and XSS prevention on all forms
  • Comprehensive audit logging of all administrative actions
  • Payment card data is never stored on our servers (handled by PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways)

We use essential cookies and local storage for session management and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
